Re: moral dilemma. overchanged, return it?
"OOH" UPDATE. KARMA POUNDS ME WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE (extra question, have i done my karma pennance? need i still return the money?).
fwiw, i'm taking the $10 back tomorrow. why? because i know it's the "right" thing to do. i'll just say i realised when i got home/back to work. also, there's no way an individual cashier will be punished for this. there will just be $10 out on the total register at the end of the day, it's a family owned business. they do a LOT of trade so i doubt $10 is the end of the world for them (immaterial, but still). it was a packed lunchtime when this happened. at first i was a little confused (i did have both $10 and $20 bills in my wallet at the time, maybe i'd just grabbed the $20 by acciedent. even though deep down i knew i'd used a $10). i walked out 'as a matter of necessity' so the next customer could be served, despite knowing the cahier would happily be interrupted to have his error rectified (though i wanted to double check and be 100% sure i used the $10 bill). anyway, i played a small $10 buy-in home game with 5 friends tonight. it's winner take all, but more of an excuse to drink scotch and joke with the boys than play poker. so i get HU, he has me outchipped 3/2. i have 93 and we see a flop of 963r. i c/r a bet, he pushes, i call. he shows 63. turn 6. gg me and my $10. coincidence? |

Re: moral dilemma. overchanged, return it?
Out one night a girl in my group accidentally gave a panhandler 3 twenties instead of 3 ones (and couldn't so easily afford it). She realized two hours later and when I went to find him (which everyone scoffed at me for doing), he had it ready for me. I gave him ten bucks. people are great.

Re: moral dilemma. overchanged, return it?
A while back i was at a drive thru at my bank taking $$ out of my savings accnt. The teller handed me the envelope and i started to drive out.Well i took it out to count and it ended up having 100 extra in it. There were 2 - 100 bills stuck together. I didnt think twice and drove back around and gave it back to the teller. She couldnt believe she made the mistake and was so glad i returned it. I wouldnt think it saved her job but im guessing it did save her a lot of paperwork and probably a headache.
Anyhow now on my way home a u-haul truck that was about 1/4 of a mile in front of me ended up hitting a big ass deer. Totally messed up the front of the truck along with the deer being laid out everywhere in the road. That to me was some good karma from returning the $$. |

If you people seriously believe in karma, you're morons.

Re: moral dilemma. overchanged, return it?
The most I ever gave back was $160. I was standing at the bar to pay and a waitress comes up to ring someone else up at her little waitress station. Pulls out one of those black book things for a bill and when she does, $160 worth of 20s falls out of her apron. She had no idea. I was the only one to see it.
