Re: 30inch or 2 20 inch ?
Hi, I was thinking about buying 2 20inch monitors. How do they work as one? What do I need?

Re: 30inch or 2 20 inch ?
You need a video card that has two inputs (see image below). Alternatively, I think you can use 2 video cards as well. I'm starting to get behind the times with some of the new PC hardware (like PCI Express) so someone may have a more intelligent answer.

Re: 30inch or 2 20 inch ?
I used 2 22" before. then My wife just bought me Dell 30" last week for my birthday it's awesome. Now I used 30" and 22". 30" fit great for 12 tables while 22" I just used for other stuff like PT and ect.
30" will be your best choice there. |

[ QUOTE ] 2 20 inch ones are probably cheaper and give you more space...I think. [/ QUOTE ] no they dont give you more space they give you the same space [/ QUOTE ] How is that possible? With 2x 20" you have 3200x1200 With 1x 30" you have 2580x1600 This is more 220 pixels with the 2x 20". Physical space: Samsung 204b: w444 x h344 = h888 x w344 (2x 20" side by side) Samsung 305T: w690 x h449 More 200mm wide with the 2x20" but more 105mm high with the 30". In my mind i have more space with the 2x 20", you can fit 8 tables without any overlap and cheaper. For non-poker i guess the 30" are much better but for poker ONLY? I hope someone who have them both can answer because i don't know what to buy yet. PS: The dimensions are from samsung.com |

Re: 30inch or 2 20 inch ?
I got a 20 and a 17 and 8 tabling is good with 2 20s ok with the 17 with resizes but I wanna 12 table and a 30 would make it a lot easier as the tables on the 20 are smallish while playing 12

Re: 30inch or 2 20 inch ?
Obv 2 20. 20x2=40 30x1=30
Therefore, 40inch is more space them 30. Tada. |

[/ QUOTE ] Assuming those resolutions are correct, and without resizing a typical 800 x 600 table, they will indeed both take 8 tables and no more. I'm not sure where you get 220 pixels from; you will actually have an extra 288,000 pixels with the 30" table, in a rather useless (at least for poker tables) 180 x 1600 strip when you turn the 30" sideways. Of course, I'm sure many people instead resize or overlap and get more tables on there. But, to answer the OP's question, it really depends on what you prefer, as the screen real estate is only 7.5% different. |

Only the 2x 20" can. 2x 20" 1600x1200 = 2 row of 2 tables = 4 tables (800x600 table) 1600x1200 = 2 row of 2 tables = 4 tables (800x600 table) 1x 30" 2580x1600 = 2 rows of 3 tables = 6 tables To someone who only want the monitor to play poker, 6/8 tables, what's the best option? Im incline to say 2x 20", but i don't know... yet. But overall (DVD, internet, games,etc) i guess 30" is better. And btw, how can you have more pixels in 1x 30"? 30" = 2580x1600 max resolution 20" = 1600x1200 2x 20" side by side = 3200x1200 |
