Re: Non-disgusting ways to consume rum
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] M-O-J-I-T-O [/ QUOTE ] Tasty but WAY too sweet. It was the first drink I ordered in Cuba and the last mohito I ever had. They spoon a ton of sugar into that mofo. However Cuban rum is by far the tastiest rum I've ever had. I think the alcohol itself is so sweet which I why you have to (or I have to) be cautious of what I use for mix. I stick with the Cuba Libre. [/ QUOTE ] dont ever order a cuba libre in america, you will get charged double the price, and probably get made fun of by a decent bartender. [/ QUOTE ] Heh. And deservedly so. If you're too retarded to just say rum and coke I guess you deserve whatever you have coming to you. |

[/ QUOTE ] If it's done right, it isn't too sweet at all; it's got more of a rock-candy sweetness to it, and it's crisp and refreshing. If you're ever in Vegas, the Petrossian Paris (the piano bar at the front of the Bellagio) has the best ones I've ever found. |

The one I tried was closer to a sugary syrup than an actual drink. EDIT: On the resort they had this giant wheel that a guy would turn to crush the sugar cane. The sugar would run out off the wheel into a pitcher and this is the liquid they would use for the mohitos. |

Re: Non-disgusting ways to consume rum
I've always been a fan of 'rum medleys'. I know it sounds a bit unconventional, but no barkeep has ever looked at me strange for ordering it, that's for damn sure

Re: Non-disgusting ways to consume rum
i'll second the 'rum medley' strategy. while straight rum shot are nasty, if multiple types of rum are mixed together they turn into a refreshing treat.

Re: Non-disgusting ways to consume rum
You could probably do acceptably with a long spoon, some elbow grease, and some determination.

Re: Non-disgusting ways to consume rum
Here is the best way to drink rum.
1. Drink 15 jack and cokes. 2. Buy a pint of rum. 3. Wander up the strip, try to buy coke and weed off a really sketchy guy you met in the lobby of Circus Circus at 4 in the morning. 4. Walk back down to the Riviera, sit at a 2/4 HE game 5. ????? 6. Get escorted out by casino security 7. ???? 8. Profit |
