flopped set - turnbet size?
3rd hand in the tournament 4/180
as it is a multiway pot i opend with a potsize bet on the flop, hoping for an overpair or a flush-draw to hop on. on the turn we have a pot of nearly our remaining stacks. i thought of villain having a diamond draw with maybe 2 overcards to the board, so i assumed if he doesn't hit his flush on the turn he won't bring anymore chips into the pot. wrong assumption? better to make it half-size and commit him to the pot but risking to be drawn out? what do you think makes our expectation better? Re: flopped set - turnbet size?
On the turn you should be pot-committed in your mind anyway, so the only question is - which is the line to extract the maximum from your opponent? The question of protection should step behind.
In a standard 4/180 I expect Villain to have anything like 88-QQ here, maybe AK/AQ in diamond. AA/KK surely would have raised the flop. The only threat for you is AK/AQ in [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], which I would discount for the decision-finding. The question should be now - is your opp. aggressive enough to bet an overpair if you check to him? If so I would have checked the turn to induce a bet (maybe even a shove) which commits himself to the pot anyway. If your opponent is more passive, gladly checking behind I would have made it 1/2 pot-size and shoved the river. |
