Re: $200 NL - More Me Being Crap in 3 Bet Pots?
[ QUOTE ]
protect your equity, you have no idea of his bluffing frequencies. [/ QUOTE ] I think this is key and why you definately want to c-bet this flop. There is already alot of money out there, try to pick it up. |

You can check turn instead and he will often check behind if you have a habit of CR with your monsters. And c/f river if you feel youre beat. |

[ QUOTE ]
protect your equity, you have no idea of his bluffing frequencies. [/ QUOTE ] i agree to some extent. its something ive been thinking about lately. i think part of the reason you check is to induce bluffs from hands you beat. supposing you are up against your standard tagfish who will call u'r 3bet with 22 "for set value" and i) never gives you action with his hand he is playing fit/fold with even if you underrep your hand by checking the flop ii) never bluffing when you check to him yes he only has 2 outs, but you havent gained anything from inducing bluffs...coz he doesn't bluff. so you are better off protecting your hand instead of putting yourself in a sort of negative freeroll where he only gives you action with his hand if he improves, and you dont gain anything by giving him this chance from bluffs. pretty sure that didn't make much sense. i do sometimes check because i "dont want to turn my hand into a bluff". its really annoying..ever since i learned that concept ive been ending up in really tricky situations where i have to call off my stack with KK on A high boards just because ive underrepped my hand. i think most people do bluff enough to make giving a free card a decent option, but if you know somebody doesn't, then you might aswell protect your hand i think. |

Re: $200 NL - More Me Being Crap in 3 Bet Pots?
you bet because it makes the hand very easy to play. if he calls, you're done with the hand. if not, you just picked up a nice pot. you have no idea how often he's going to bluff, so if you check and he bets youre in a really tough spot and will have to fold since you're OOP. betting protects your hand and prevents you from getting bluffed.
with position, checking behind on the flop gets a lot better. |

you bet because it makes the hand very easy to play. [/ QUOTE ] isnt the general consensus nowadays that sometimes its better to take a line which makes the hand harder to play but which might have higher EV? [ QUOTE ] so if you check and he bets youre in a really tough spot and will have to fold since you're OOP [/ QUOTE ] why do you have to fold to one barrel? cant you just call once and see how the turn plays out? im sure there is a reason why this is bad ... [ QUOTE ] with position, checking behind on the flop gets a lot better. [/ QUOTE ] if you dont know how often he bluffs , why is checking the flop in position any better? if he fires the turn now you are in a really tough spot aswell. |
