Live 30$ tourney hand against a player I really respect
30 players.. 4k starting stacks 25/50 blinds
5k effective stacks I have 8k after doubling up the previous hand slowplaying top full house.. check calling all streets and check/shoving the river.. given that.. I have k8 in bb in limped pot.. villain limps with suited connector type stuff and small pairs with the occasional suited 2 gapper and offsuit connector. He is the best player at the table and views me as one of the better players at the table but he is in no way afraid to play a pot with me.. btn also limps, sb folds, i check my option Flop k[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I lead 150 (given my slowplay the previous hand I thought it'd be good to do something different here), Villain raises to 450, btn calls, Hero raises to 1200 What do you think? |

Re: Live 30$ tourney hand against a player I really respect
I like playing this hand fast if villian has an 8 or a flush draw he isn't folding anyway. It insures you are getting the money in before the river. It's a good way to mix up your play as well.
Another way here is to smooth call and c/r turn. But I think 3-bettting the flop gets the money in for sure unless villian has air. If he has air then he might not bet turn anyway so there is no value lost. |

from what you have written about the hand vilain has KTs-KQo IMO, rarely an 8 but the button def. might have A8 or some sorf of 8, i like playing this hand fast based on the action and your previous hand

Any K that limped is checking behind on the turn.
3 bet is perfect to make sure that you stack the case 8 and also to keep in the button's flush draw after the villain calls with his 8. nh. bet 1750-2250 on the turn and shove the river |
