Commit to TP/weak kicker with medium/low M?
Third level of a $20 B&M MTT. My stack is ~4250, blinds 100/200, so M a little over 14. Button limps, SB completes, I check in the BB with Q4o. Flop Q-x-x with two spades, pot = 600. SB checks, I bet 500, button min-raises to 1000, SB folds.
I've been at this table for less than an orbit, so I can't interpret the button's limp, although the table has generally been passive PF so far. I'm getting > 4:1 to call and see the next card, but I don't want to get sucked into a commitment to this hand. Having said that, my M is sliding and I'm feeling under pressure. Fold/call/raise? |

Re: Commit to TP/weak kicker with medium/low M?
What's his stack?
Could he be a bully donk-raising with nothing? Could he have 2nd pr or flush draw? If those are the case shove. If it were me, I'd feel I have a nice advantage over the field in a $20 tournament, so I'd just muck it if I didn't have any read and pick a better spot to get the chips in. If you don't feel you have a big advantage over the field, lean toward shoving. Calling is the 3rd best option here imo. |

What's his stack? [/ QUOTE ] Oops, sorry for the omission - he has me covered, by around 1.7:1 or so IIRC. [ QUOTE ] Could he be a bully donk-raising with nothing? Could he have 2nd pr or flush draw? If those are the case shove. [/ QUOTE ] He's quiet but not timid with betting, and I've seen him take down a couple of pots, but none at showdown. My gut reaction puts him on a (better) queen or a flush draw. In the event I took the worst option - calling - then check-folded the turn, which was a third spade. I immediately kicked myself for wasting > 10% of my stack on the call, as the only turn I'd really like would pair my kicker off-suit, i.e. 2 outs. |

Re: Commit to TP/weak kicker with medium/low M?
your flop bet is too big imo.
either check the flop or make a bet about half of the potsize - i lean towards checking. with the buttons raise i think you have to fold, as you are most likely beaten by a better Q or 2 pair/set, don't think a flush draw would make a minirais, giving great pot odds. a flush draw either overbets/shoves or calls. pot control is most important here with your low M. |
