NL 25: Very basic, just learning. Do something else with my AK pre?
Villain is like a 21/20 multitabler. Should I just call here and see the flop?

I don't really like this for > 100 BBs... you're way behind most hands he calls w/ (AA, KK), so you're turning it into a bluff. You've got position, Just call.
You can even make an argument for folding here, since he's showing some pretty ridiculous strength (4-betting from UTG). |

I fold here. What is he 4-betting from UTG? Most likely QQ+ and not a whole lot more. He's not folding KK to your push and he might not fold QQ either. If you just call, you're not getting much out of him if you flop an A or K and he has QQ.

I actually like calling. What is his 4-bet range? There is also the argument for folding. You have turned your hand into a bluff and the only thing you're beating of his is AK...So...nothing. I doubt he 4bets w/QQ (unless you tell me different).

I fold to the 4-bet. You are pretty far behind his range and you probably wont get much from him if you flop good.

Re: NL 25: Very basic, just learning. Do something else with my AK p
If I'm going to call, should I consider just calling the first time instead of 3-betting (I understand I want button out of the hand here, but what if button weren't in the hand?)?
At the time, my thinking was that his range might include something like JJ+, and even AQ+, but I see that that's way too loose. My other thinking was that I don't want to call because I'm OOP and want to finish the hand more quickly. |

calling here is really bad...push or fold...don't hate a push, its higher variance but nice for our image

Re: NL 25: Very basic, just learning. Do something else with my AK p
whatever you do, don't just call the 4bet -- what you did was fine. Folding is fine too.
In a vacuum, they're about equal EV wize. As you begin to widen or narrow villain's range beyond QQ-AA, AK with reads the pendulum shifts on folding and pushing. Here, UTG villain likes his hand enough to 4 bet and not push, tighter. He's a bit deep, tighter. He has position -- AK calls with position, tighter. 3rd person in pot, looser. Hero possibly squeezing, looser. Villain's AF? Hero's play up to this point? (might be most important.) I lean ever so slightly to fold, but I'm really easy to convince the other way. oh, and the raise the first time is 100% the right think to do. You don't want to flat call this pf oop. |

Never just call here, push or fold. Its a high variance spot and to be honest it doesnt matter which one you choose. I probably fold without a read but Im a nit again
