Default 8/4 AC Trip report...Showboat

Well, I just came back from AC where I played the Saturday Showboatament, some 5/10, even some 1-2 NL. I was playing really well in the tourney but was crushed when my i got my money all in preflop with pocket 8's and I lost to A-8... I was stuck 20 big bets in the 5/10 at the Taj after a horrific start.

Here's a fun 1-2 NL at the Showboat hand:

I'm on the small blind with AhQh. 4 limpers... I call from the sb, big blind jacks it and makes it $22 to go... UTG calls, and the rest of the limpers fold to me. I see that the big blind has 9 dollars left and UTG has less than a hundred. So I just make it $122 to go... UTG thinks it about it for a bit...and says "#@&*! it, i'm all in..." Gotta love it... Since he took so long I was no longer afraid of AK... board hits queen high, and UTG shows AJ and big blind shows pocket 5's... Love the Showboat...

I was at the Showboat yesterday and played in its 11 a.m. I wound up going out on the exact same hand -- A8s v. 88 -- but I was the one pushing with the Ace on the button after falling below 10 BBs. I neither stole the blinds nor sucked out after being called.

I've played a lot at the Showboat this year, and it's been pretty profitable. However, I am seriously thinking about boycotting the place because the floor management is so poor. I and others have posted in this forum about how badly the room is run. Yesterday was another example for me.

The last time that I played in a tourny at Showboat, I got shorted during one of the color-ups. So, yesterday, just before the first color-up break, I counted my chips in front of the dealer, made him confirm the count, and then watched him color-up my $25 chips. I then left to use the restroom (my bad, I guess, but nature was calling).

When I returned, the floor had come around and colored-up my $100 chips, shorting me $1,800 in the process. I complained, and so they promised to check the total chip count. According to the tournament director, the total count was correct, and so she told me that I was SOL.

I then turned to the dealer to have him confirm that I had counted my chips in front of him to verify my stack. Without letting him answer, the tournament director told me that his input was irrelevant because the dealers have no authority to verify chip stacks. She said that I had only two options to protect myself: stay at the table during the chip-up break, or make the tournament director personally watch me count my chips before leaving.

These kind of incidents (and worse) happen to someone at every tournament at the Showboat. This is a Harrahs-owned property, and I don't understand why the company that owns the WSOP is not more attentive to getting its poker-rooms run properly. In some ways, I feel a little helpless because my boycotting the place is not going to do a thing except keep me away from a good fishing pond. Harrahs' poker comps are already the worst in the business, and so it seems like the company could care less about encouraging players to return. But the situation is bad, and I would like to think that Harrahs cares.

I love the limp/call $22 raise/call $122 re-raise by UTG
