400NL - Villain 3-bets from SB. What to do?
Early on in a session, I haven't played any big pots before this hand. Villain runs at 21/14/2.8 over 800 hands, and the only note I have is that he 3-bets preflop more than his stats suggest, without being insane.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Hero ($405.40) SB ($625.10) BB ($454) UTG ($692.12) Preflop: Hero is Button with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises to $16, SB raises to $55, 1 fold, Hero calls $39. Flop: ($114) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets $99, Hero calls $405.40 (All-In) I guess the main question is what I should do preflop, and if I should pass, what hands should I continue with here. I think that the flop plays itself, but if anyone disagrees, I'd be interested in hearing why. |

I would fold preflop unless I happened to choose his hand as one to make a stand. That would depend on his 3-betting frequency and the dynamics and so on.

this is a monster lucksack flop here, but you should never be calling this preflop. I would probably muck most pocket pairs here.

Preflop, I prefer your open raise to be smaller. If you make it 12 and he makes it 36 or so, you can happily call the raise in position. Here though, I think your putting too much of your stack in, and would fold preflop. It's not awful though, especially if you have any reads. As played, the flop shove is automatic.

Re: 400NL - Villain 3-bets from SB. What to do?
Anyone fancy giving me a range that I should be continuing with here preflop? What about if someone starts repopping my CO/Button raises more often? I feel its pretty exploitable to open a wide range in late position, and then muck everything but, say, 99+, AQ+, and some opponents, such as villain in this hand, are beginning to take advantage of me doing this.
