Chips in play when changing games...
Our casino is about to bring in NL. So it forces me to ask a stupid question.
I buy in to a 4/8 LHE game for $200. I'm up to $250 when my named gets called for the 1/2 NL game. Am I required to keep all $250 in play at the new table? |

Re: Chips in play when changing games...
Where I play (Horseshoe council bluffs Iowa) you are only required to keep money in play if its the same game. Changes between limits even in the same game (ie 2/5nl to 1/3nl) are different games and the money can be pocketed. You have to wait some amount of time before returning to the game you came from if you do this though.

Re: Chips in play when changing games...
I know some casinos require you to chip down to the acceptable max buyin for the NL game when switching from one 1-2 NL game to another 1-2 NL game, which basically leads to encouraged rat holeing which i dont like - you should always be able to adjust your stack when moving from different games though

Re: Chips in play when changing games...
If you're switching limits, it's normally treated just liked you're a brand new player sitting down for the first time. Basically you cash out of the old game and buy in to the new one and your new buy has to be within the limits of the new game.

Re: Chips in play when changing games...
In FL, if you change tables, or if your game breaks, you are not allowed to have more than the max buy-in of $100 no matter how much you had on the previous table.
