($225) AQ vs raise from good player
Villain is Assassin8tor or whatever his name is. He's a great, solid player, one of the better ones on Stars. I don't know if I've ever seen him 4x at 100/200/25. What's my play?
Note that there are antes in play. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Hero (t4410) SB (t1340) BB (t2360) UTG (t2000) MP (t3390) Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, MP raises to t800, 1 fold, Hero? |

Re: ($225) AQ vs raise from good player
Something's wrong with the converted hand. If he's CO, I shove and pwn him, since you're the only one who can bust him. Keep him passive where he belongs. I would do this even if it's slightly -EV since you are both regulars, for metagame reasons. Unless he already knows all this and you put him on a monster, but I'd be surprised if he's only raising super-premium hands here.

Sorry, there should be no fold before Hero acts.

That's a pretty small raise with antes. If he's that solid, chuck it.

Small? It's 4x BB...

Re: ($225) AQ vs raise from good player
he's either doing one of two things:
1) trapping w/AA/KK 2) giving himself room to raise/fold vs. you if he thinks you won't shove on him with a real hand, while still committing himself vs an SB shove... he might do this with a hand like KJ. Not having played with him, I couldn't tell you which |

Re: ($225) AQ vs raise from good player
i sorta look at this overraise and then at the rest of the stacks. it sorta looks like he is telling the BB he is committed to the pot and not to bother with a stop n go. so i really doubt he does this with JJ+.
he probably is not too woried about raising a little extra through you because he knows (and i'm not sure if this is true), that you are on a reasonable resteal range and wont be pushing 55 or AT. then i also think when someone overraises, what would i do if they made a standard open to 550 or 600. all things considered, i think a push is best. |

Weird raise but since he's coming in from the CO I can see pushing.
