TT from CO--too good to fold, stack to low for set mining
Hi All,
I hope this one isn't too obvious to you, but I wasn't sure what to do. I didn't want to call and play for a set was, since I'd have to be pretty sure of doubliing up to get my odds. I didn't want to fold, obviously. It's very early, so no reads, but I would expect villain's range to be tight enough to ensure a call if I re-raised, as 5BB from EP says to me, "I have something good that doesn't play well multi-way, e.g. 99-QQ." UTG (3150 in chips) UTG+1 (1580 in chips) MP1 (2810 in chips) MP2 Ashling83 (1360 in chips) HERO (1500 in chips) BU (1325 in chips) SB (1775 in chips) BB (1420 in chips) Dealt to HERO T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] One fold, UTG+1 raises 120 to 150, two folds, HERO? |

Blinds? Your position? This looks like a push or fold depending on how UTG+1 plays.

If you don't like calling why not Push?

Pushing is bad. Really, this is a call. You aren't just playing for set value when you call. You also have overpair value when the board comes all raggedy and if you really have his range as narrow as 99-QQ (which you really can't do) then you can pretty easily take the pot on flops that have an A or K.

Looks like a scared big pair [/ QUOTE ] What? Who gets scared with a big pair? A raise this big would say more along the lines of 55-TT to me, maybe JJ, but certainly not QQ+. I think this is a call just because pushing is too large of an overbet and won't get villain to make many mistakes. |

I see this type of raise way more out of middle pairs, some AK, maybe AQs hands. I don't think there is anyway that I'm not calling at this point. Jamming seems silly IMO, you are getting snapcalled by big pairs, folding out middle pairs. |
