hes not leading a weaker ace here, like ever. [/ QUOTE ] You never know with these people but first off he'd have to have the last one and have been willing to put in all those bets while 'knowing' he was behind so I discount it almost entirely. I was just trying to answer the fellow above who was thinking maybe we can raise. |

Re: Calling 3-cold on the button: When?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] is sb is LP, he's not gonna 3 bet u w/ trip 9's, so maybe this is an argument for a raise? [/ QUOTE ] If he's got trips he's not folding so all that does is lose me another $40. And if he doesn't have it how can he call? Unless he's got the case Ace, figures that I might be made to fold and, if not, that Jack maybe gives him a chop? Nah, I think it's either a bluff or I'm toast as I said above. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I'm not seeing any value in a raise. I'm anxious to hear the results, I have been thinking about this hand since I read it last night. I just can't put him on a hand other than Q9s or K9s. |

Re: Calling 3-cold on the button: When?
[ QUOTE ]
Every time I see anyone cold-call 3 bets, I always assume it's JJ. They virtually never disappoint me. [/ QUOTE ] Sometimes they have TT/AQ/AK. TT/JJ are the most likely imo |

I'd like to know from you folks what you think of cold calling 3 on the button and with what hands you're willing to do it. [/ QUOTE ] Let me answer with a hand from Canterbury 8/16. UTG raises, EP three-bets, MP, LP and CO all call. You are on the button and have not yet looked at your cards. Chances are, at least 2 or 3 of these donkeys will be in the hand until the river. What hands do you call with? |

Re: Calling 3-cold on the button: When?
[ QUOTE ]
SB bets and I think back to that 'Oh, well....' when he called the flop. I think for a few seconds and decide that this is either a total bluff or I am crushed and that there is no point in raising so I just call. [/ QUOTE ] Half the respondents seem to think "Oh well..." means he has a fistful of nines, but he said it before any nines showed up. It might mean he had a set, might mean he really was being wishy-washy, and there's a small chance he thought he had a monster with 2 pair on the flop. It's not inconceivable he has A6 and is now sandbagging you with a hand that's already counterfeited. It happens. p.s. I'm not impressed with your read of Button. Lots of bad players are full of self-confidence. |

He doesn't know if the blinds are coming. In the situation you mention (where there's going to be a monster pot) I call w/ a very wide range of hands. |

As soon as I called SB threw his hand into the muck. Total bluff. I turn over my hand anyway. I want UTG to see me show down a few very strong hands that I played against him. That should make him 'behave' when he's up against me in the future and also allow me to take advantage of him in 'interesting' situations. Hopefully. |
