[ QUOTE ] That Specials one is frickin' awesome. [/ QUOTE ] This former third wave ska kid concurs. [/ QUOTE ] Word. I've probably seen somewhere between 1 and 2 thousand shows in my life and probably 3 of the top ten are Specials gigs. Tuco. |

Re: Best SNL music performance of all-time
Of what I've seen listed here, I'd say the tops are Radiohead (both songs), The Specials, and Harrison/Simon.

Re: Best SNL music performance of all-time
Knockin on Mine. Seemed a bit sloppy to me. I'm not in love with it:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=CANv5Ro_2...ed&search= I think when they did Can't Hardly Wait was way better though. The horns alone make it awesome but the singing and the song itself are better too I think. Those horn players might be from the SNL band. Not positive. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ix-oIf9jq...ed&search= I think these two performances might be from the same show even though they all changed clothes. The Replacements were pretty famous for getting absolutely plowed for their performances and evidently did so on one of their appearances on SNL. They were evidently completely plowed when they performed on SNL in 86. This is Paul Westerberg's band in 93 and I'm not sure of their sobriety for this one. Probably better I imagine. edit - confirmed. Knockin on Mine and Can't Hardly Wait by Paul Westerberg on SNL. Same episode, Dec 4, 1993. Not sure why they all changed clothes between performances. I remember thinking it was weird when I saw in on SNL re-runs in 96 or 97 or so on Comedy Central. |

Radiohead - National Anthem [/ QUOTE ] this is excellent, but their performance of Idioteque (can't find it anymore) is the most intense thing I've ever seen. The had just come back stateside and the tickets for that show were impossible to get. The audience was a who's who of musicians and A-list celebrities. |
