PresS Release
I am starting a new company and am interested in using press releases as an early marketing tool. Kind of a way to let people know that my biz is open. Has anyone used this? What are the advantages and negatives? Thanks

Re: PresS Release
If written well, they are an excellent, inexpensive tool to get the word out.
If you are on a budget, I would try PR Web. For under $100, you can get a wide release and be able to track views, downloads, etc. The site also contains tips, etc. on how to write an effective press release. Selecting the correct keywords are crucial in getting the release in the right hands. However, and something I just realized, is you didn't say want kind of business you have. If it's a restaurant or something similar, you may be better off hiring a PR firm that do things other than releases (e.g. garnering buzz, etc.). |

ty for the info. The biz I am starting is unique to the state, so I just need to get the word out. Have you used prweb.com ? I noticed they have a ton of comp and just wondering if they are the best.

[/ QUOTE ] I've used them for my company and had modest results - maybe 25K - 30K views and a few hundred that actually read the release. PR Newswire is the industry standard, but they are much more expensive. Also, you need to do more than a newswire. You have to personally email the release to whoever is important in your area - reporters, influencers, etc. Put it up on your website and then submit the webpage using keywords. Include it in sales materials. You get the point. |
