Fairway woods, are called fairway metals also now? ie, my "5 wood" as I call it, can be aka "5 metal", right? its not the same as a 5 iron?

Correct, not the same as a 5 iron. Any 2/3//4/5/6/7/8/9 "wood", can also be called a "metal". Either way is fine, although there are some people who hate the term metal. (you're not alone [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img])

i actually just refer to it as my 13 degree. i carry an extra wedge, so no 17 or 19 degree for me.

I've never heard anyone refer to a "fairway metal" that wasn't an on air golf announcer. I'm convinced even they don't do it in day to day life. If one of my friends said it I'd be pretty shocked.
