Jeff Madsen Can Dodge Bullets, Baby After a flop of , Jeff Madsen bets 41,500, and his opponent thinks for a while before folding face up. Tony Ma, sitting at the same table, is dumbfounded, and Madsen takes the pot without showing his cards. Why would someone fold aces in that spot? Was it a strong read, or just the fear of losing to someone in a jester costume? [/ QUOTE ] i [censored] hate these posts with no cards in them |

Without knowing the preflop action, who can even say whether that's a bad fold with AA. I can think of circumstances where it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

From pokernews:
Bobby Baldwin: Expert Negotiator There was a dispute at Bobby Baldwin's table between two players. Player A thought he was shorted 12K in a pot. Player B felt that he owed too much. Three different tournament directors were called over and they could not make a decision. That's when Bobby Baldwin stood up and helped recreate the hand. Even though he wasn't there from the beginning of the hand, he was able to figure out the hand to the proper satisfaction of all parties involved. Siiigh, if only Bobby were running the whole shebang... |

Johnny Chan Eliminated
A player raises from early position to 1,200, another player calls from middle position, Johnny Chan calls from the cutoff, and the big blind calls. The flop comes 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img],6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img],3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] rainbow, the big blind checks, the early raiser bets 1,200, the middle position player folds, Chan calls all in for 600, the big blind raises to 3,000, and the early raiser folds. Chan shows A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], and his opponent shows K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] for a pair of tens. Chan is dominated, and needs to catch an ace or something runner-runner to survive. The turn card is the 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], and Chan picks up a flush draw to go with his ace. But the river card is the 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], giving his opponent trip tens to win the pot, and a story to bore his family and friends with for years, as he busts 10-bracelet winner, two-time WSOP Champion Johnny Cha |

Phil Hellmuth, Bracelet Winner Extraordinaire
With Doyle Brunson's elimination earlier today, and Johnny Chan's elimination moments ago, Phil Hellmuth, Jr. is guaranteed to be the only 11-bracelet winner until the 2008 WSOP. If you forget, don't worry; he's likely to remind us many times over the next year. Phil is the Man.. |
