Hand 1: Although I was almost getting the right price to chase 5 outs (assuming I'm behind), I felt like if I called turn, then I might end up convincing myself to call river too since the pot is so big. I ended up folding the turn. Hand 2: Since we knew each other from before and were chatting it up a bit, I felt like he would be a little less likely to bluff me. Also, I immediately felt like his hand might be AQ (a bad habit I'm trying to work on as I should probly think of a range of hands rather than a specific one). So I bet turn hoping he would fold his Ace, but he ended up raising me, to which I folded. After the hand I asked him what hand he would almost 3-bet me preflop and then play like that after the flop. He said "How about pocket 8s?" I'm a little skeptical because I think he would raise the flop with that hand, but perhaps he was planning on just calling down. But when the board double-paired, he figured it would cost him the same to raise the turn, and he might get me to fold a better hand. |
