Baldurs Gate Dark Allience, quick question

A buddy is playing this game in front of me currently but does not know how to use a recall potion (Xbox).

Can anyone tell me what buttons to tell him to hit to use this damn potion so he stops bitching?

also, are there restrictions like "cannot use recall potions when enemies are near" or "cannot use in underground passages."

I have no manual for the game obviously as I by used.

I think you hit the start button and it's on the little menu somewhere?
