Lyle Berman is TJ's backer for poker tournaments. I wonder how he makes sure that TJ doesn't piss away his tourney winnings at the craps table before he gets his cut?

Actually, my understanding is that last bracelet T.J. won, he was so deep into Lyle for his table propensities he basically walked away without any money at all. As it's been longer now I would think he really under. Lyle tends to be a very forgiving backer with his friends, I don't really think he does these things for a strictly profit motive.

speaking of degens, i was with jurollo & co. the night of his big cash, and i was sweating some of them playing blackjack while having drinks, and layne flack was at the next table over, playing ~$3k/hand blackjack and drinking/smoking a cigar. it was really depressing to see.

Why is this depressing? TJ needing to borrow a few hundred from PH to play $100 craps is a totally diff story...

I overheard Flack talking to Johnny Chan about an offer he was making on a $1.7-$1.8M house. $3K bj hands may very well be in the budget & just a way to socialize & blow off a little steam like the avg guy playing $25-$50 hands.

... plus... what if he's actually BEATING the bj game ala Andy Bloch?

Ummmm what?

Maybe he really likes the house? Just because you can afford a more expensive house, doesn't mean you buy the most expensive house you can.

I said should. Anyway...I dont think Flack has the wealth to justify 3k bj as "blowing off steam".

Maybe not if you're a pro gambler who likes the stakes higher than the avg guy... $1K/pt Chinese poker... riddiculous $10K prop bets without any discernable edge, etc...

The point is that he's playing blackjack for $3K a hand & his lifestyle doesn't seem to be suffering from it.... And we're comparing it to TJ's craps habits, which by most accounts, does.

NFW. Maybe Flack was telling Chan that he was so hard up for cash that he was considering an offer to burn down a $1.7-1.8M house as an insurance scam.

Depressing? Sounds like he was having a great time to me. I guess our ideas of depressing differ.
