Help... some kind of virus thing is opening IE randomly
k...
so i know a fair amount of stuff about computers and I'm stumped. I have AVG virus software and ad-aware and when i run either it comes up with viruses and spyware and then i delete them ... but then it keeps happening. Basically I use firefox to browse the internet and whatnot and randomly like 20 Internet Explorer windows will pop up and I close them with task manager and its ok for a while again and then it repeats... I do not know what this is from... I have not downloaded too many programs recently Any help ?

i remember this happened to my laptop a while ago. update your virus software and run it. it'll catch whatever it is. i'm pretty sure restarting my comp completely froze it so maybe avoid that.

I have updated both my ad-aware and AVG and both find viruses / spyware scattered all around in different locations and as soon as i delete them i can run the programs again and they still find more viruses... the only thing it does is opens explorer windows though as far as i know everything else is running fine... i dont get it

It could actually be more than just adware since AVG is catching it, cleaning it and it's reoccurring. That smells like a virus, but it could be an adware virus, for what it's worth.
The safe mode scan with system restore off is a good place to start but if that doesn't work, the next logical step is to run AVG and AdAware and write down the name of the virus/adware/spyware that keeps popping back up after it's been cleaned. From there Googling their names will probably be your best bet at figuring out a fix. Good luck
