folding the set
i had 77 in on the button
and the guy in UTG raised 10 dollars and 4 players called. when flop came, every body checked to the Cut off bet out 10$ to the board of 467. I make it 40 and he raise 50 more. I call and there is approximately 200 in the pot. At this point i was semi certain he has straight, since he's very capable of plying 35 and he usually dont bet or raise big without big hand. (he's the type of player who bet big when he has huge hand and bet small when he has small hand and he respects my play since i've show down only big hands) He bets out 100 on the turn. now the pot contains 300 and i shove in my last 180 and lose to straight. So i was on a draw to full house or four of a kind on the turn with 5.7 to 1 odd of improving and i was getting 3:1 pot odd and 4.8 :1 implied odd. pot odds are telling me to fold here. But it is pretty hard to fold set on that board. im curious how other people would have played this hand. any comments and thoughts would be very appreciated. was folding the right play here? |

Re: folding the set
Please don't post results and please stick to the standard hand format.
About the hand - if you have that good of a read on villain (That he would only act this way with the nuts) then fold flop. Against a random player I am definitely not laying this down. |

Re: folding the set
yea im getting all the money in here 100% of the time, stack sizes+stats on villian would be good though.....if he did flop the straight u have outs, whats to say he doesnt have a underset? You have top set push and hope for the best

Re: folding the set
While he may be capable of playing 35, chances are he's still on a draw and just representing a made hand. I've folded sets when the flop is three of a suit and someone else is raising or all-in.
