Re: Satellite hand, down to the end
'but don't we just shove this pre-flop, on the understanding that villain's calling range should be RIDICULIOUSLY NARROW?"
Well said. |

Re: Satellite hand, down to the end
Shoving 28XBB PF w/AQ is lame; esp as CL.
Folding the flop is EV- as villain's range includes hands without a K; raising the flop when u hav middle pair a gutshot; and an over is a matter of taste and style. |

Shoving 28XBB PF w/AQ is lame; esp as CL. [/ QUOTE ] Why? What can he call with here, except AA? As I'm happy to admit, I don't get sats but as his opening range is soooo much wider than his calling range and as I don't want anyone stealing my blinds, I'd shove pf. |

lol his calling range is so much wider than AA here, didn't u guys notice he has to outlast a 600k and 900k stack?

Re: Satellite hand, down to the end
If he has a small pair; it's going to be very difficult for him to play OOP against the big stack after the flop. There are too many hands for villain to call and relieve himself of having to play OOP.
If hero chooses to fold the flop; turn; or river, it does not substantially affect his standing in the tournament. There's alot of play left in the game (maybe 200 hands or so) and hero is going to have to play; choosing to keep the pot small, is one way; tossing when u r probably ahead is another way. In general the shortstack should be willing to get it in here when he has 2 live cards. In general CL should be trying to take the variance out of the game at the expense of EV here. |

Re: Satellite hand, down to the end
i shove PF i shove flop i call turn
ANYTIME maybe this is totally wrong ofcourse we wanna outlast the rest but dont we wanna take down some places along the way ? only a very tricky player would do this with a J go with youre read would say if you think villian is tricky enough to do this with a J FOLD if not then just call even if you loose you are still in the CL and IMO still got enough chance to outlast the rest if you win this pot YOU GOT THE TICKET FOR SHURE... remember youre not like completely dead when you loose you are a little ahead then 2 other players and double the shortstack so again push pre push flop call turn |

Re: Satellite hand, down to the end
the stacks make this awkward to play for hero here. a reraise almost has to be a push, because making it 175k sucks, because villain could/should be 4bet pushing a ton and hero has to dump if he does.
i think the trouble with the turn play here is that at the time hero did not give the proper consideration to villain's hand. it should be pretty clear that hero either is miles ahead of villain (who would be drawing to four outs to chop) or is miles behind villain (and is drawing to 2-4 outs to win and/or 3-4 outs to chop). i think when we're investing a significant portion of our stack (and our equity) by calling in a WA/WB situation, the absolute right play is to dump. as locutus said in so many words, as massive chipleader, hero should be trying to do whatever it takes to massage his way to the seat. |

Re: Satellite hand, down to the end
Ur usually way ahead or way behind by the turn.
Two pair is probably way ahead most of the time. There are limits to villain's FE in every situation. Villain's credibility is low because he has raised the last 3 orbits when folded to the SB. In the prior sb/bb confrontation hero called villain down on the river with Q-high on a scary board beating 78, which included the meaningless c-bet. Hero's equity moves from ~9K+$ to 8K$ (with the prize money) if he drops 500K in chips. hero is confident that he has a good chance of making a seat if he loses the hand. |
