Tough preflop decision - $90 live SNG
This game is at the Venetian.
10 players to start. Standard 50/30/20 payouts. The average skill level at the table is about equal to a current Stars 6.50. 1500 starting chips. Blinds started at 25/50. 15 minute blind levels. If anyone at the table has paid attention to my play, Ive VP$IP once so far when I raised from CO and folded the flop when I missed and there was a bet and a call ahead of me. Its probably 50-50 that anyone has noticed how tight I've been to this point. There are about 7 players left. We're in level 3 for this hand (75/150). The hand: CO shoves 600 Button folds SB calls <--- this guy is a calling station and has a big stack. BB is Hero with KQs and 1050 in stack before posting Your plan is ??? I talked to two excellent SNG players about this hand and got what I think was a very good answer. I'll discuss that later, but I'm interested to see what you other guys think. |

id like to shove, but either vill could easily have any A which puts us in a bad way. meh fold.
any idea on CO's range ? i'm thinking SB is on a really wide range. |

Re: Tough preflop decision - $90 live SNG
The answer depends on how comfortable you are playing with 6 BB (less once you post the SB next hand) 6 handed.
If SB knocks this guy out, it doesn't change really the order of things other than a player is gone. If CO wins, then he has you outstacked by a decent margin. I would have a tendency to gamble it up and shove. You'll have no FE the next few hands anyway. But, if you feel that you can shove with less than 6 BB on the guys to your left with impunity the next few hands (and/or re-pop SB later), then fold it. Live is rigged anyway. Re: Tough preflop decision - $90 live SNG
You have to connect with the board to beat the all-in player. 450 behind is not enough to make the caller fold no matter how you do it. Do you have much of a pot equity edge? I think the answer is yes. Against a lower pair and Ax, you're about 3:2 behind getting almost 2:1 on your money. If you do win and collect a big stack, people in live events love to fold, and you have the stack to make them do it.
Shove it and love it. |
