tipping-full time v. recreational
I know there are a ton of tipping threads, but maybe not one addressing this specifically. I am going to be starting playing full time this summer. When I played in the past I would tip every hand I win, except if I win only the blinds. Is it appropriate to adjust how you tip when you play 50+ hours/week.
I also vaguely remember reading a thread a while back about things that full time players write off on their taxes. Do people try to write off tips? It doesnt seem like you could, but these are poker players we are talking about. From any of the full timers...what do you guys write off? Thanks in advance. |

Re: tipping-full time v. recreational
Tips come straight out of your bottom line, you can't write them off.
Personally, I tip $1 per pot unless I either win the blinds or raise and get one caller who checkfolds the flop. Then I don't tip. Also crappier dealers will notice more if you don't tip them because you're around all the time tipping everyone else. |

Re: tipping-full time v. recreational
Jersey, thanks for asking. I deal to many full timers at Bellagio. easily 99% toke $1 per hand (cept just blinds) with the occasional $2 when they like ya or push a cpl in a row. We all seem to have a repoar that acknowledges and respects each other. And we are cheerful and on the side friendly as well. They take it as a part of busines that they have no problem with. They would prefer to toke regular good dealers and keep them there than not toke and end up with dipshiit dealers cuz the good ones left for better places.

This topic was discussed in an earlier thread and whether or not it is feasible. bigfishead, thanks for the perspective of a dealer. Though I'll be in AC I'm sure it's similar if not the same. |
