25NL AJs Yuck Flop
Villain is 76/0/0.8 over 63 hands:
Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $22.55 Hero: $32.80 CO: $4.75 Button: $27.30 SB: $12 BB: $21.80 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG+1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG folds, Hero raises to $1, 2 folds, SB calls, BB folds. Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($2.25, 2 players) SB bets $1, Hero calls $1 (pot was $3.25). Turn: K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($4.25, 2 players) SB bets $1, Hero calls $1 (pot was $5.25). River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($6.25, 2 players) SB checks, Hero checks. Results: Final pot: $6.25 What with him being so passive post flop, I was worried about him betting out. Raise the weak looking turn bet? |

Re: 25NL AJs Yuck Flop
His turn bet is very weak, reraise turn to $5 (this does give him bad odds to draw to a flush as he is so short stacked and you fold if it hits and he goes all-in) I'm more than happy to get a half stack in with this hand on this board.

raise the flop. since you didnt raise the flop raise the turn. since you didnt raise the turn bet the river.

Re: 25NL AJs Yuck Flop
Flop should go something like, sb bets 1, hero raises to $3.50, sb folds, calls, or raises.
If he raises I'm likely getting out of here. If he calls and checks turn like they do a lot in this spot then go 3/4 pot on turn. If he weak leads turn, also raise. As you played it I think you should bet $1.50 on the river. That will get called by a lot of Kx hands |

Re: 25NL AJs Yuck Flop
I wouldn't make too much of this guy's bet sizes. He probably doesn't really realize how small they are (he sees a lot of other players doing the same thing, after all ), and if he doesn't have a flush, maybe those diamonds scare him.
Still, bumping it up at some point (or betting when checked to on the river) does seem like a good idea to me. I think he'll have a worse ace or a PP or KdXx or 7x or 2x or XdXx a good chunk of the time. And then, of course, sometimes you'll find out that what he was doing was making trappy bets with a flopped flush or a set or aces up . (I'm saying I wouldn't be willing to commit my stack or anything.) That said, I'll admit that I do what you did in this hand sometimes too. When I like my hand but am not crazy about it, sometimes I let my opponent take the initiative and control the pot for me with his small bets. And there are times when this is a good strategy, but I'm thinking maybe you have a little bit too much hand for this to be one of them. |
