I decided to quit
I don't know if this is the right forum to post this.
But... I decided to quit poker (Maybe forever, maybe for a few months). I lost my whole bankroll yesterday, and i don't have the will or patience to build up slowly from a low bankroll again. Don't get me wrong, i'm not writing this message out of frustration, but just to get it of my chest. Yesterday i have been thinking about my life and poker, and i was thinking why i shouldn't want to quit poker. do i still enjoy poker: no! so why did i want to play on, the reason was: i already invested so much time in playing and reading that i didn't want to quit or else that time would feel like wasted time. I think that wasn't a good reason, so i should quit now, instead of 'wasting' more time. Its like a bad relationship, you just have to quit and not go on, just beacuse you been togehter now for so many years. Does the fact that i stop sadden me? Yes and No; Yes offcourse it does, because of the wasted time. but i'll get over that; No, because i don't have to look back in bitterness, as my statistics say i am still up (i'm a winning player) so the time spended with poker has only made me money. I hope this message is taken serious. and i want to see what replies it gets. I think I'll still be playing backgammon (the game i always love the most). goodbye, popeye |

[/ QUOTE ] That's like saying you have to call with your TPTK since you already have 10% of your stack invested. Fold. |

Re: I decided to quit
Sounds like you're making the right choice. Good luck with everything else in your future! Poker can be emotionally draining and I have no doubt I'll quit at some point in the near future, too.

Re: I decided to quit
Guess a good decision.
I am up a 5 digit sum and think about the same. I will not quit complete, but reduce my game. reasons : 1. games are not as good as 2 years ago 2. accounts hacked, money is froozen 3. games are tighter = more boring 4. more and more bots / cheaters / PHUD / PT is involved Backgammon i play live, its the cooler and more social game. enjoy your time |

Re: I decided to quit
Im being honest with you. I've started with a very low bankroll. Worked my way up from Micro Limits. I played 1/2NL on the PC with not adequate and lost last night. However, Im up a considerable amount of money this year already so I can care less. Its due to all the suffering and ass whoopings I took on various sites and know Im starting to get paid off, on internet and live poker. I've blasted so many bankrolls, but guess what Im here to stay. I'll be blowing another bankroll tonight in the restaurant b/c I got money like that and I know Im good enough to get it back when I hit the table in two weeks. Poker is my hobby and basically coming my part time job. Just like the guys say below you'll be back. IF YOU INVESTED YOUR MONEY LIKE ME ON 10-15 BOOKS YOU WON'T THROW THAT KNOWLEDGE AWAY. Take a couple of weeks off or even a month. Maybe switch live. You are fine. Hang in there.

Re: I decided to quit
When I was younger I spent all my free time playing hockey. I spent 20-30 hours a week practicing and playing ofr 6 years. I don't play anymore, but it certainly wasn't a waste of time.
Even if you never use your poker skills again, it doesn't mean you wasted your time. |
