Re: Avoid Alienware (semi-OT)
For playing poker you certainly don't need anything to fancy.
I play on my Toshiba Satalite M30 (I had it for a while now) and it is great. Has a nice big screen and a monitor port on the back (I plug a 19' into the laptop for multitable play) and is light, like 6lbs. Toshiba has always seemed to be a great laptop maker. The only downside is it is a centrino machine, designed to save battery life. Thing lasts 4 hours when doing my work, but it is awful for games (other than poker). If you aren't playing games then I highly recommend it. |

Re: Avoid Alienware (semi-OT)
Not that I need to even add to the fire but I had a friend buy an Alienware desktop and he had nothing but trouble from the system and from support.

Re: Avoid Alienware (semi-OT)
There are about a million reasons why your experience might suck right now. The hypothetical "alienware sucks" is only one of them. It's pretty illogical to blame them for all the problems you're having.
Many times it is indeed the author, not the pen, that is to blame. |

Care to explain why you say Dell sucks and why Intel is so bad? [/ QUOTE ] Well Dell uses Intel. They have a contract that prohibits the use of AMD processors. Also Dell's build quality has gone down drastically with the introduction of "budget" computers. |

Dell has started putting plans in motion for AMD based servers, and I would expect desktops to follow before long. http://www.forbes.com/technology/fee...fx2347168.html |

They can't actually create a Dell with an amd processor. They have another company do it to get around the contract. Intel is really one greedy company. They will do whatever it takes to monopolize the market. |
