Default Lucky Eagle Casino Trip Report - Eagle Pass, TX

I drove from New Braunfels to Eagle Pass last Friday to check it out the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino action. The casino has slots and a wierd blackjack where the players deal to each other and the casino gets a rake. Something to do with not having the proper licensing.

They had the following poker games going at 10 pm

Limit:

Four tables of 3/6
Two tables of 5/10
One table of 10/20

They had one no limit table with 2/5 blinds and max $500 buy in.

I signed up for the 2/5 nl table and sat at a 3/6 limit while I waited.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I caught cards and ended up $220 after 6 hours of play. At 3/6 limit! The table was so loose I decided to stay and limit possible variance so I did not play NL. I did catch some good cards though and did fold all rags.

Two other good players at the table. One was a big guy...at least mid sixties...who would turn beet red every time he caught a hand. Bright red meant a boat. Tomato red meant trips...you get the idea. Anyway, he still got callers when he changed colors.

The poker room is not walled in and they smoke comes in from the rest of the casino. They don't comp anything for poker players except will pay for one night's hotel if you pay for the other night (must play for 8 hours).

I'll be heading back soon...pm me if you are interested in sharing travel expenses and live in the San Antonio area.

Oh yeah..the rake was $4 for the limit tables and $5 for NL. Later and good luck

i've played there a few times, and loved the loose low limit action.

So I've been kicking around the idea of making the 4 hour drive from Austin. How's the clientele? Is it mostly spanish at the table and how are they going to take a gringo walking in there?

Free drinks...? Any drinks? (I've read on here that Winstar OK has no alcohol at all...)

All the dealers speak both English and Spanish. There were a few Spanish only players. Sat with three people that crossed the border from Mexico...all wealthy (at least looked it), one super drunk saying he had $3000 to dump on us (his wife was keeping a close eye on him). He spewed about 400 before he left.

Don't worry about your ethnicity...you are in America...the melting pot of the world.

It's a fun walk across the border to Piedras Negras. Gotta bring your passport now though. $11.00 bottle of Cuervo!

No free drinks...no comps other than a poker rate at the hotel

Beer was $2 bucks and table service was pretty good.

Yeah man...those breakfast tacos were awesome...I chowed down on machacado tacos.

BTW...the limit action at the 10/20 looked pretty good too. Pre flop pot sizes looked to be about $80 minimum that night with at least 4 to the flop

You are correct, no alcohol at Winstar. All the free Pepsi, soft drinks, water, and coffee you could want, if you don't tip the runner or get it yourself.
