5th in nightly $5 PLO8 donkament! Woot!
Played the 9:30 nightly PLO8 tournament about a dozen times and only cashed once previously (in 18th, meh). But last night I finally made the final table and took 5th
$100 in winnings in will just about cover the two-buyin pasting I took at the $0.50PLO8 cash games... |

Re: 5th in nightly $5 PLO8 donkament! Woot!
Nice, I played my first PL08 tourney in a while last night and finished right on the buble. Go big or go home meant I went home. I was surprised how easy it was to steal in the middle and late part of the tourney. Anyone else notice this or was I just lucky to be at a weak table?

Re: 5th in nightly $5 PLO8 donkament! Woot!
It did seem like the play was pretty passive. But this could be because a lot of people would call down with not much (at least early on), which discourages bluffing. I noticed in reviewing stats when there were about 30 players left (right around the bubble) that I had won 17/21 pots on showdown and only 2 pots without showdown; in cash games those numbers are normally about equal for me.
Anyway, stealing did become easier around that point, and the number of pots won without showdown started to rise dramatically. When I went out I'm pretty sure I had stolen more blinds (in terms of chip value) than anyone else in the tourney up to that point. |

This is for you Dave. Clearly reraising A2 hands is a standard winning play.
