Big Hand from 750k Full Tilt
First time poster, Long time reader.
This hand really irked me. It took place in yesterday's $750k on Full Tilt. There were about 650 players left from the original 2700; top 400 get paid. Starting stack was t3000; Average stack was about t11k. Villain and I had been at the same table since the start. I had tried to bluff Villain once, and Villain re-raised all-in. I folded. I later made the same move with the best hand and Villain folded. Villain, however, was shortstacked at t1700 with blinds at 100/200, but made two strong all-ins to push stack over t5k. Villain then received a serious run of cards, most notably a three-way all-in in which Villain's A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] took down K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] when he turned the A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. After that, Villain had been aggressive. In addition, CO+1 was a very well respected pro, and Villain did not tangle with this pro despite having decent position (and multiple opportunities) to do so. Big Blind is t400. Ante is t25. (9 handed) MP2 (t11k) CO+1 (t16k) CO (t10k) Button (t6k) SB (t24k) Hero (t23k) UTG (t21k) UTG+1 (t20k) MP1 (t7k) Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 7 folds , SB raises to t1400, Hero calls t1000. Flop: (t3025) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets t2250, SB raises to t6250, Hero? I will post later with result. Thanks in advance for analysis. |

Re: Big Hand from 750k Full Tilt
i like a reraise preflop, but as played i dont fold because he is aggresive and you are just worried about a made flush or 88, and if you are up against that you still got outs.

Welcome to the forums
Preflop: Gotta reraise preflop to send a message that he can not steal your blinds. As played flop 3-bet is mandatory |

Re: Big Hand from 750k Full Tilt
As said earlier, a pf repop sems mandatory. As played, an agg player could easily figure you don't have an ace b/c you didn't pop him pf, and could make this move with a range from air to a made flush. I'm no expert, but I think with this board a shove is mandatory as played.

Re: Big Hand from 750k Full Tilt
The lack of a preflop raise has your hand well hidden. I would push now hoping to win w/o any chance of another Diamond hitting the board. Welcome

Re: Big Hand from 750k Full Tilt
Clearly, a reraise pf is in order here. For some reason, I gave the Villain credit for way too good of a starting hand. B/c of Villain's aggression, I was a little concerned that if I reraised to t4k (or so), Villain would have the opportunity to move in on me.
I put the Villain on a pair and a draw, somewhere in the neighborhood of K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. I did not think the villain had 88, as a CR could be a poor play if I held one high diamond. I probably made the worst play possible: I called the t4k raise. My thinking was if a diamond fell, I could get away from my hand, and if a blank fell, I would push. The turn came 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Villain made a fishy bet of about t3k, and I fell hook, line, and sinker. Villain showed K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] for the nuts. I did not improve on the river and was out. Let's say that I made the mistake of not reraising PF. How do I then lose as little as possible in this scenario? And unbelievably, Villain went on to win the entire tourney. |
