Default Things that just weren\'t what they seemed to be when you were young

Over the weekend I have pulled two memories from my childhood out of my ass. As I thought about these stories I realized how much my perception of them had changed since I was young.

The first story involves my uncle. This uncle is your classic heroin addict uncle. Every family has one. My uncle showed at my house when I was maybe 9 or 10 and asked to use the bathroom. Then some very trashly looking bitch followed about 2 minutes later. They both stayed in the bathroom for about 20 minutes. Now at the time I had no idea what they were doing. Now I realize they were shooting up.

Second story. I was at Chuck E Cheese. Not sure if Chucky Cheese is regional or not. Its like a arcade/restuarant for kids, many B-days parties are hosted here. I am probaly 7-8 at the time. I sit down to play one of those games where you hit the exact center of a clowns mouth with a water gun and the first one to run the dude to the top of the chart wins or whatever I am sure you know what I mean. However, on this occassion the 30-35 year old guy I am playing against throws his knee into my leg about half way through at the conclusion he claims this was a accident. I believe this at the time but now realize I have been retroactivetly screwed out of tickets at Chucke E. Cheese.

Do all families really have heroin addicted uncles?

Maybe it is just the people I know but every family seems to have one drug addicted uncle in the family.

The guy at the Chuck E Cheese sounds like a real winner.

my uncle is a heroin addict who just got out of rehab and is already back on meth. He dissapeared 7 days ago and we thought he was dead, but we just got a phone call like 6 hours ago- he's actually in jail for DUI.

as a kid i thought my mother was a lesbian because she had some issues of vanity fair in her room ( primarily the issue with demi moore naked and pregnant on the cover ). in retrospect my mother probably just enjoyed reading magazines.

When you say he is out of jail and already back on meth, do you mean methadone or methamphetamines? Cause goddamn, bipolar drug addictions?

I have had two uncles who were heroin addicts, both on my fathers side. Currently I have zero, as they are both now dead.

Until a few years ago, I myself was that uncle.

I really don't come from THAT 'white-trashy' of a family, either.

/deep thoughts.
