Big hand ($2/4) against total fish-- standard?
I loved this hand preflop-- but really hated the flop. MP1 is a total fish at a 85.71 VPIP-- I still wonder if I should have called the river with two weak pair?
Absolute Poker Limit Omaha Ring game Limit: $2/$4 9 players Converter Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP3 with 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, Hero raises, 2 folds, SB calls, BB calls, MP1 calls. Re: Big hand ($2/4) against total fish-- standard?
Sounds like a little bit of ego got into your decision making. Your thinking might have been as follows?
I am better than player x, therefore, I can chase top pair, backdoor nut low w/out redraw, and backdoor flush, inside straight. Edit - I wonked it on the spreadsheet, and assuming you had perfect outs for the low, flush and straight, your total equity was still only 20%. That's a clear fold to me. |

How would you have played it differently?

Re: Big hand ($2/4) against total fish-- standard?
I mistyped the hand originally-- it is MP1 who is the 85.71 VPIP, not the BB. The BB is pretty fishy, but much tighter. BB almost always bets into flops.

I'm okay with the preflop raise, but I'm not crazy about it. I think I could have found a fold on the flop, if I wasn't on tilt at the time.

Fold on flop.

Re: Big hand ($2/4) against total fish-- standard?
Preflop I call and then fold on the flop but I think it's OK to call one small bet on the flop given the raised pot.
The turn card is fine but after MP1's raise I would fold because of the danger of getting quartered. Given his agressiveness he may well raise with nothing but a draw to a nut low. Once on the river I would have called with aces up if BB is not capable of a check raise. |
