BB turns weak pair after flop is checked around
first hand at the table so no reads.
Limit: $0.25/$0.5 8 players Converter Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, 4 folds, SB calls, Hero checks. Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3SB, 3 players) SB checks, Hero checks, UTG+1 checks. Turn: T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (1.5BB, 3 players) SB checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, SB folds. River: J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3.5BB, 2 players) Hero checks, UTG+1 bets, Hero? Was bet/fold a reasonable line to take on the turn? I wanted to take the hand if no one wanted it. Also thought I had a chance of getting a bet out of a small PP or a six. Is this a clear check/fold on the river? I was planning to check/call anything other than a Q, J, or 6. I want to make sure I'm playing mediocre hands correctly so I appreciate any comments even if this seems like a fairly mundane hand. |

I think this is not at all mundane.
Its a weird situation with 2 people. But I would fold to the river bet: too many overcards. I think you played it fine. |

"grunch"
Call. Villian may just have a pair of sixes and since you checked after taking a stab, he may be trying the same. If not, this is one of those times where paying for information is worth it. If he slow played top pair, limped in with a big pair, or hit the jack on the river, it would be worth one bet to see what he is willing to limp in with in fairly early position or see if he's capable of tricky play. Plus, he'll be less likely to bluff in the near future if he knows you'll make him show. |

I check/fold. I don't think this is that great of a spot to be calling a river bet getting 4.5:1.
"Calling down for a read" is not a good reason to call here. |

hrm, turn bet seems a bit donk-tastic but maybe that's a good thing. they might think you've got nothing when you do. there are 3 cards on the board which beat your pair. I think this is an easy fold. it's a small pot and your holding is pretty crap. |

GRUNCH
Good post. Always a tricky situation, one that Ive found myself in a few times. If I'm being honest, I call here - as I dont think anyone has hit, though the best thing to do with two overcards is probably fold. |
