Check Cashing Buisness
I pay my rent with money orders...and every time I go I am in line for 15 minutes. And there are two right across the street from one another....
Granted it is an urban area, but they charge like 15-17 percent for advancement of 14-30 days. Anyone have any knowledge of this buisness? The long lines, the outrageous fees, and the fact they are like downtown starbucks makes me curious on how they work. |

Re: Check Cashing Buisness
whats wrong with paying rent with a money order? I ask my tenants to either pay me cash or money orders, rather than cheques. That way I dont have to worry about a NSF fee and I can cash my funds instantly.
(yes, i know direct withdrawl is better but not for some lower income housing) |

Why would I want to go to the trouble? |

Re: Check Cashing Buisness
The lease agreement probably states that the lessee has to pay with a money order for the exact reason of bounced checks.
Obviously there is nothing in it for the lessee. It is probably a requirement. |
