River: J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (15.25BB, 5 players) BB checks, UTG checks, hero checks, MP3 checks, CO checks. Results: Final pot: 15.25BB Another stupid 2/4c hand and I would like some comments on my play before I leave for the greener pastures of the 5/10c. I was trying for a protectioncheckraise on flop but that plan blew up solidly. It was 10 bets again on the turn but I should have bet out and hoped the guy on the left raised perhaps. The river okey with the gutshot out there. |

Your flop check is frickin' terrible! Who are you check-raising? Yourself?

Re: KK 2/4c at PS
You HAVE to do something on the flop. Any 9 already has a OESD. Very coordinated board where many guys will find something to continue on.
The only question is whether you should bet or c/r. The thing with a c/r here is, that when you can c/r, only MP2 will have 2 to call. Everyone else will have already called one bet and most likely will call the second. Therefore, a c/r here would seem more like a value-c/r than a protection-c/r. Adding the fear that it might get checked through, I would probably go ahead and bet the flop and be relatively happy if MP3 raises and a few fold. Turn: Everyone is getting correct odds, that's true, but some 30+% of the time they'll miss their draw and you'll be good. So bet again. River: Yes. I would check too. River |

Re: KK 2/4c at PS
You can't really set up a check-raise without knowing where a bet is likely to come from. Maybe if you knew the Button would bet if checked to the check-raise might be alright. As is, you have no reads and you were the PF aggressor so I think you just need to bet out on the flop for value. I know you want to find a way to drive some players out but there isn't really a way to pull that off here.

Re: KK 2/4c at PS
bet the flop and cap it if possible, and lead out on turn or raise a turn bet

Got it. Bet flop with overpair. I have truly forgotten everything in the last 3 months
There is some section in HEPFAP on loose games that I must be misapplying. They say check big pots on the button with big pp. |

Re: KK 2/4c at PS
also HEFPAP won't even apply until you're at $1/2 or 2/4 or higher even.
