Re: i hate rolf slotboom
Rolf does also write about how to beat players using "his" strategy...
Tables with a minimum buy-in are a good idea though. Why not have tables that have literally one buy-in amount (i.e. everyone must buyin with the same amount). It's not like anyone would be forced to play those tables so I can't see an argument against having them. Wado |

Re: i hate rolf slotboom
I like playing full ring and I like Stars for PLO because that site has healthy full ring games. Full Tilt and Party you are lucky to get 1 full table because people who would normally start full tables playing short just play 6 max. Would you guys mind letting me have one site with no 6 max?

Re: i hate rolf slotboom
The thing is, as I understand Rolf's strategy, is that 90% of these short-stackers are NOT playing his strategy. He states very clearly that you greatly prefer a full ring game (less blind pressure) and you prefer at most two short stacks in the game, and when he developed this system it was with deep, deep stacks squaring off (this helps protect your hand after you're all in). So when I sit at 6-max and it's two deep stacks (100+ BB's) and four short stacks (<50 BB's), it's not even Rolf's strategy, it's really something else entirely.
I don't disagree that it changes the game conditions greatly, and can be very annoying, but blaming Rolf for it doesn't seem quite right to me. |

Re: i hate rolf slotboom
I also like that Stars doesn't have 6-max PLO because that would probably hurt the full ring games, which feature players that play far too laggy for full games.
I haven't played at any tables with a bunch of these short stacks, but I would think that tightening up would reduce their edge. |

Re: i hate rolf slotboom
variance goes way up with the short stackers.
I agree. Min buy in should be 40 BB. This would cure the problem. IMO. Plus this would still let fish with out to much money to take some shots. They should also increase the amount of time before you can sit again, so they can't rathole easily. |

Re: i hate rolf slotboom
I think that's a great idea. A while back I had also been thinking of sending them an email for increasing the max buy-in in PLO to 200 BB as well (which really isn't all that deep in a lot of live games I've played). I'd almost suggest that the "deep-stack" tables have a MINIMUM buy-in of at least 100 BB and a very high max. I'd be happy with 200 BB, but I don't even think 400 or no cap at all would be excessive. In the casinos where I've played, there's no cap on PLO games, and even the 1/2 can have many $1,000 stacks. The 5/10 often has quite a few stacks $10,000 and more. I don't see why this shouldn't be possible online as well.

Because they don't want to bust the fish too quickly . . .

Re: i hate rolf slotboom
I have stopped playing at pokerstars because of Joel, Eva, coco and mike(?). They are totally ruining the game. And I have also noticed that these guys are playing 24/7, are they bots?
As suggested, the best solution would be alternative tables, where 100BB were the only buy-in option. |
