Default Re: TD pat 78 very multiway - do I break?

When you have a hand like 87542, the difference between four and six people in the pot in terms of your hand getting run down is negligible, since anyone without a deuce needs specifically #9 to win. However, those extra two players make a huge difference in your odds to improve if you break, because they almost certainly hold threes.

This is somewhat of a more complicated way of saying that the deck is poor and you should stand pat.

Whether to bet the river depends on what you think they would pay off with. Because of the poorness of the deck it's unlikely that anyone with a seven draw will catch an eight and pay off, which is the usual reason to bet good 87s. But the pot is pretty large and a nine or worse might pay off, expecially if you're new to the table and haven't shown down a hand that shows you know what game you're playing yet.
