I'm hoping we pick up a bunch of additional forum participants, before the end of the year.

I for one definitely want to participate - halfway through the year before I saw the 06 contest.

The contest will repeat for 2007... I'll try to prompt UglyOwl to post some kind of an update on where things stand...

Marketocracy ports are setup to look like mutual funds... they actually "compensate" the top performers across the whole site, by adding them to the M100... and actually running a fund based on the collective picks.

So, no option trading, but still a worthwhile place to setup a virtual port.

I'm hoping we pick up a bunch of additional forum participants, before the end of the year.

I have been dealing with some personal issues this year, so I apologize for disappearing from the forum.

Is there a better way? I was disappointed that you could not see others portfolios in this.

I would like to do this on our own. Maybe pick 10-20 stocks "short or long" at the beginning of the year and be able to replace some periodically.

If we have all the data available, this could be much more worthwhile.

You can see who is doing well and who isn't, but the why's you can't answer.

Thoughts?

RAMFX Representin'.

Yes most portfolio sites suck, but, to borrow a phrase from e-mail clients, "this site sucks less."

We'd be on the honor system as far as any guidelines we try to set up (I appreciated the no penny stox rule, but even that ain't enforcable). Considering the above, we may as well just leave it as is.

Of course, if someone else can produce a free long-short site, im all ears

This thread can not be stickied... there is a link to it in one of the stickies.

Look for a new thread for 2007...

fwiw, I had this thread stickied for quite a while and was asked to unsticky it, in line with the 2+2 policy of no unlocked stickies.

Really should've taken a snap shot yesterday since my fund lost 1.1% today but thought I'd just recap my investments in the 2p2 contest for 2006.

5 worst:
Symbol Inception Return
1 NTO -28.20%
2 AAPL -24.03%
3 GRP -16.76%
4 AUY -9.08%
5 CCJ -8.12%

5 Best:
Symbol Inception Return
1 FXI 64.17%
2 HAYZ 60.02%
3 TIE 54.76%
4 CHNR 47.75%
5 FMCN 30.41%

I cleaned house a little bit at the end of the year selling the names that were no longer attractive to me and added a couple for 07. More house cleaning to come when I have a chance to re-examine all the positions.

So far I've put on GLW and HXM for 07. I sold CIB after treking in Colombia briefly. Not that I got any special insight, just that I didn't think my money would have a good return in that particular name. Also got rid of XLE last week but will likely re-enter in the spring.

I set up a Marketocracy account several days ago as 2p2nomad and applied to the 2+2 group. I haven't posted on here in ages, but I'm trying to learn a little more about investing beyond just throwing my money in a target 2040 fund and forgetting about it. I figured if I'm going to set up a fund on Marketocracy, there's no good reason not to join the 2+2 group.
