Beaujolais Day
Has anyone ever heard of, or celebrated, Beaujolais Day?
Apparently, on the third Thursday of every November, thousands of cases of Beaujolais Nouveau are released to the public in France. It is a cheap wine that needs to be drank immediately. I ask because I had never heard of this as a wine drinker - but my boss bought a case from Sherry-Lehman in NYC, who pays to have it imported same-day from France to the U.S., and gave me a bottle. I'm looking forward to drinking this mediocre wine w/my dinner tonight. |

Re: Beaujolais Day
I have actually been promoting this variety of wine to some of my friends who are put off by the bolder red wines like cabs, zins, and shirazes. I tell them to try out a bottle of this lighter, sweeter red variety if they're tired of the same old chardonnay or riesling.

Re: Beaujolais Day
They also have a new, very colorful label every year, which keeps things interesting.
