All game picks are dogs, representing my chances at showing a profit for this challenge.

Re: 3+1 NFL Challenge - 2006: Week 9
211/212 o42.5
208 219 224 $400 Texas/Giants o42.5 I always try to steer clear of the games with huge lines because the mind plays tricks at that level. That being said, I've fallen for one already this week (Bears, later) and I really like this one as well. However it dawned on me that Houston seems to find ways to put points on the board, and if they're still going to lose by 13 then this should sail over and I can still win on "Upset" close games, 21-24 whatever. I'm not happy with any picks this week all four could be the top one, but this one seems to have multiple ways to land. $300 Rams -2.5 When in trouble I tend to revert to an old favorite. Chiefs on the Road = teh suck. It's a simple formula and I don't know the official figures, which means it's probably closer than I remember, but the Chiefs home advantage is such that they appear terrible on the road. Of course the reality is that they're just terrible but have huge home advantage that they abuse very well. Either way, I feel it comes out in the lines on a regular basis. $200 Saints -1.5 No logic behind this one, just a gut feeling that the Buccs will start to lose motivation now that their season is virtually over. Mathematically they still have a chance, but it will be at the back of their minds that they need miracles and I'm not sure bodies will perform. The Saints on the other hand will be fired up to show that they are for real, and even if they're not for real, trying to bounce back from last week should be all the motivation they need to overcome a flagging Buccs side. $100 Chicago -13.5 Bleh. Never say never again. These huge lines are so difficult because you just know that the books have tagged an extra point or two onto the line so that idiots like me will bet it. Even worse, you know they've hung it just under 14... again so that idiots like me will bet it. I tried to keep out of this one, but really, in a tricky week, the best team in football at home to the worst team in football is surely, surely, worth 2 TD's on a regular basis. Lori |
