Re: Fitness Orbs at work
I can't see how someone could sit on one of those things every day and never fall off. Just once. I would laugh so hard.

Re: Fitness Orbs at work
Every thing he says in the video is pretty much true, it will strengthen your core and help your posture, but you're just supposed to sit on it, not bounce around. Plus, the constant(if minimal) effort will tire you out more quickly than if you were sitting in a regular chair, obviously.

Re: Fitness Orbs at work
I think it's acceptable. It's got to help your posture and be better for you in the long run. I fully support sitting on a ball.

Doc/Khabbi -
Validity of physical benefits is not the main issue. Choice of "workout" venue is. |

Re: Fitness Orbs at work
Why does it matter? It's good for your overall health, and a few people i know use them as chairs when they're watching TV at home. Especially given how poor some office chairs are, i don't see the problem.

[/ QUOTE ] Actually, you might have to be careful on these if you have back problems. They are good for what they are intended to do - which is provide an steady (labile) surface during exercise. The problem when using them for prolonged sitting, is that the very reason they are good for exercise (an unstable surface), causes your trunk/core musculature to be constantly more active/stimulated. Recruitment of the core musculature also includes an increase in spinal compression. For some with low back dysfunction, they may become symptomatic with prolonged spinal compression. I'd use them for exercise - not sure I would sit on them for any great length. |

Fine. In the absence of opposing arguments, I will stifle my laughter. I'm nothing if not open minded and non-judgemental.

Re: Fitness Orbs at work
IMO, if you were to allow this, then at the very least, the users should be subject to intense and repeated office humiliation.
