Re: FW 1-2 NL, continued. . .
Any true 2+2er would know the verb form is 'donkish.' And 'typically' typically has 2 'l's, damn it!
The question mark at the end of the sentence was actually a play on the previous poster's punctuation. |

Obviously I'm still perturbed by my faux pas in the OP regarding the use of 'reraise.'

Re: FW 1-2 NL, continued. . .
[ QUOTE ]
I was just talking to my cousin on my lunch break, about bet sizes at this game. I haven't played it yet, but he has. He confirmed that you see a lot of strange bets in relation to the pot size. He was telling me of people coming in for $25 bets with no limpers before them. So - is this just a FW thing at this particular game, or is it common in most NL cash games to see flop bets of over 6X the pot and 12XBB PF bets?? [/ QUOTE ] I don't know about other casinos, but this kind of retarded overbetting is very common at FW $1-2 NL. The hands can be quite entertaining: $2 limp - limp - limp - then, "Lets make it $25 to go", which is code for "I have JJ, I have no ability to fold a hand post-flop, and I'm deathly afraid that the flop will come with an A, K or a Q, or any other potentially worrisome cards, and I won't know what to do at that point, so I'm happy to take down the $8 that is in the pot right now." The thing is, if you had AA and had just bought in for the $100, making it $25 to go is probably not a bad play at all at a FW $1/2 table because you'll probably get at least one dude to call you with KJ off or something like that. As you can imagine though, you'll get a lot of these ridiculously large preflop raises with crap like AJ, KQ, KJ, etc., etc. You just have to figure out whether the person doing the raising knows what he is doing or is a typical FW $1-2 idiot, which is usually fairly obvious. Also, most FW $1-2 players have no idea what they are doing after the flop comes, which is in part why see you see the retarded large preflop bets. You'll often see a large preflop bet, followed by an all in on the flop. All you need to do is hit 2 pair or better and you're golden! Sometimes all you need to do is hit top pair, because hands like AK, AQ will go all in on the flop too or make a big continuation bet. I love the FW $1/2 tables. |

Re: FW 1-2 NL, continued. . .
I've tried using the search function on this, and I know it's been discussed, can anyone point me to a post (or analyze/speculate here) what the hourly rate in this game could be for a very skilled SSNL player?
I found thishttp://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...e=0#Post7523089 , but wondering if theres any more in depth analysis on here. Also, how often do they games run/how many tables/how are the waitlists what are peak hours etc. Also appreciated would be any links/knowledge of how often the 5-5 runs, the quality of players, and expected rate for a good player, apparently its pretty tough but that was my knowledge from a while ago. Did they add a 5-10 too? Sorry for all the questions, thanks a bunch guys. |

I dont know if FW switched to 5-10 NL though, I havent been in a while. [/ QUOTE ] When the opened the new poker room in March, they changed up the NL games a bit. There is a $1/2 game, max buyin of $100; a $2/5 game, buyin of $300-500; a $5/10 game, and I think the buyin is $500-$1000; and a $10/25 game - I believe the buyin for the $10/25 is minimum $1,000 and it is uncapped. I'm pretty sure that if you go on a weekend night, all of those games will be running. Not sure if you'll find a $10/25, for example, on a weeknight. I don't play that high so I wouldn't know. Definitely on the weekends though. |

[/ QUOTE ] I play this on occasion when waiting for other tables. The players are noticeably better than the 1/2 players but they aren't tough. certainly a softer game than party $100 or $200 which I also play occasionally. no idea on expected earn though. |

Re: FW 1-2 NL, continued. . .
I love 1/2 NL. At least a couple times a night someone will just opt to give you all their money. You just have to run decent. Here's a nice example from my last session.
Six limpers to the flop, I hold T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in the BB and check. Flop 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I check, it's checked to the button who bets about $15 or $20. I call and so does the cutoff. Turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I check again. Button bets $25. I call, CO folds. I could have raised here, but I had the button on nothing and the cutoff on a medium pair, so I didn't expect this hand to be too profitable and was looking for an overcall from the CO. Plus I wasn't that in love with my hand and the button had about $500, which I covered. I didn't want to send it all in with a lousy kicker if I could avoid it, just in case I was wrong and he actually had a decent 8. River, 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] giving me the virtual nuts. I bet out about $60. The button thinks for a second and then announces All In. "Well, that sucks," I say, "I guess we have the same thing." I go ahead and call, expecting a split pot. He turns over 53!! |

Re: FW 1-2 NL, continued. . .
Last time I sat in a $1/$2 NL game in the casino, the first hand I was dealt in there were 6 people all-in preflop with ~$130 stacks and they all showed down hands ranging from 23o to A5o. Yes, you read that right: A5o was the BEST hand preflop.

In Small Stakes No Limit volume 1, we have a Biggest Mistakes section. Grossly overbetting the pot with an overpair on the flop is one of them.
