Re: NL10 - QQ from BB
Reraise to like $1 - 1.20 pf. If you bet the flop, make it at least $2. To me it looks like he has a king (big or small, depending on player).

Re: NL10 - QQ from BB
I'd say raise even more pf, bet $2 or so. You are OOP and wouln't mind taking the pot straight down. Your small raise does not sufficiently reduce your opponents pot odds and allows them to call without them making too much of a mistake(if any).

Re: NL10 - QQ from BB
My raise was pot-sized. Is there a general guideline as to in what situations it is appropriate to bet more than pot-size?

Re: NL10 - QQ from BB
OK. There are two issues that need addressing here.
1. Reraising preflop When you do it make the reraise *BIG*. Even the biggest donkey will put you on a big pair and play accordingly so make sure his stupid "implied odds" call with a small pp doesn't work out. My standard is 4 x the bet plus one lot for each caller and sometimes another one if I'm doing it out of the blinds. So in this case $1.50 looks good to me. 2. Pot size bets when you are raising There is a big difference between a pot size bet and a pot size raise. The PSB is easy to figure out by looking at the contents of the pot and betting that much. When you are making a PSR then you should be raising the amount of money in the pot *AFTER* you call. Let's take this hand as an example - There is 15c worth of blinds, 30c worth of bet and 30c worth of call for a pot total of 75c. To call you'd be putting another 20c into this pot making the pot up to 95c so you should have $1.25 in front of you after the bet. (your blind) 10c + (the call) 20c + (the raise) 95c = $1.25 |

Re: NL10 - QQ from BB
PF is good. PSR here is good. this might be one where you bump it to $1 straight.
call that flop, see what he does on the turn, if he leads into you again small like that call. He could be betting a flush draw a king, or JJ-1010. You want to get to showdown cheapely |
