Re: 99 spot
hmm I couldn't imagine capping this preflop. WHy will any broadway on the flop scare us? Only an ace would scare me. I think there's much more value in calling and raising a great flop or being able to fold an Axx flop or like a JQx flop if it goes bet/raise. Its pretty beneficial to see two people act in situations like this where 99 is likely to be fairly marginal after the flop comes out. Much more valuable than pushing any preflop equity edge (if one even exists).

Re: 99 spot
I'd fold as well. There is a possibility that SB has a smaller pocket pair, but if you just call the flop he's probably going to fire again on the turn. That's a lot of action to weather, especially considering that it is more likely your opponent has you beat.
Just my opinion... |

Re: 99 spot
Folding is fine and often I would.
But you have a decent backdoor straight draw so you could peel in hopes of picking up a draw. You are getting 11-1 on about 3 outs, some chance of getting a free card or two, and some chance of having the best hand. You won't lose any appreciable money doing this. I'd make my decision by table feel. If I felt I needed to play a hand against Villain to maintain appearances this would be a good chance. If the board was two-suited I'd decide based on whether I had the right nine. |

Re: 99 spot
Well if he is 3betting light with say A8o or 66 I dont want him picking up the pot when the flop comes QJx.

Re: 99 spot
99 vs QJ2r
Loose guy: equity (%) win (%) tie (%) Hand 1: 46.9867 % 46.71% 00.28% { 99 } Hand 2: 53.0133 % 52.73% 00.28% { 44+, A5s+, K9s+, Q9s+, J9s+, T9s, A7o+, KTo+, QTo+ } Conservative guy: equity (%) win (%) tie (%) Hand 1: 33.0511 % 32.65% 00.40% { 99 } Hand 2: 66.9489 % 66.55% 00.40% { 88+, A7s+, KTs+, QTs+, ATo+, KJo+ } The only thing that sucks is it's kind of a ratty reverse implied situation, so I don't show it down against conservative guy. Against loose guy I just pop the flop and go from there. |

Re: 99 spot
If he will fire the turn almost always then I fold immediately. If the fact that I call the flop will cause him to check most of his hands worse than 99 then I would call.

Re: 99 spot
This looks like a good spot to mix a semi-random flop peel in. I guess thebest decision depends on our table image a lot and especially the way we played aces on this table without the inniciative.
