Re: Newbie-comments NL10 FR PR JJ fearing set
I don't see the point in the turn bet. When people make that bet into me, I raise it with any two (unless I've got the nuts (or close to)). I'd prefer a check or a 3/4 pot bet.
On the river, no draws made it, so Villain could consider a bluff, or a stupid value bet w/ a T. I would check-call most river bets. |

Turn bet is bad. Doesn't get any value and lets you get bluffed off your hand. Either fire a real bet of 1/2 pot-full pot or check and call. Same on the river.

Re: Newbie-comments NL10 FR PR JJ fearing set
Agree with MrM and Jam... the turn bet is weak and IMO ineffective.
You said you bet small here to try and find out if he had the set if he raised. But I don't think this works. If I had KJ or K9 here, let's say, and I see you bet that small on the turn, there's no scary draws on the board, so I might want you to maybe catch second pair on the river. If I had 99 or 88 or something, maybe I re-raise you hard here to represent the K. If I have AJ or J9, I'm happy to call your micro-bet here and try to catch a cheap gutshot draw. So, yeah, the turn doesn't really help you figure out where you are in this hand, so I'd bet more. Otherwise, the hand looks solid to me. |

Crap, I thought I was being creative and making a cool move and then posting it on SSNL where people would start worshipping me for my genius and so on. I really thought it was a good idea at the time.
