Default JJ 5/10 limit. New guy at the table calls out his hand.

I have JJ in a big pot with about 5 people in it. Very loose game. On the turn the new guy types "I've got aces." The table freezes. "You have aces." "Yep. Saving you guys some money."

What do you do? Why is this not illegal? Poker room told me to turn off the guy's chat. Great...how would I do that if I have never seen the guy before?

Why are you so upset by what he said?

I don't think there is anything in the rules prohibiting one from talking about one's hand. Besides, if you had only an unimproved JJ in a big, multiplayer pot, I would think that having the others being scared and/or motivated to fold the turn would help you, not hurt you.

Okay, I agree. It was just one more bet to call anyway, but I still do not think people should call out hands.

it's more information for you. whether or not the info is good is up to you to decide. if nothing else, you can just ignore it and nothing changes (other than looking like a fool when you call and he has AA, or him looking like a jackass when you call and he doesn't). it's not as if he had folded, saw the flop, and said, "damn i folded XY for the nuts."

I felt the information was good because he was insecure on a board that had flush and straight draws. I felt like he was sick of getting drawn out on or something and felt he needed to protect his hand.

I appreciate the advice. I will play next time as if nothing happened.
