PP 100NL LAG hand with J8s
I have been reading the FAQs, NLHE Theory and Practice, and watched the JSnipes video a few times and have really been working on ramping up my aggression. I felt I played too nitty before, and have been pushing a little more to make thinner value bets and reading hands. I think I may have went a little overboard here. I didn't have a great read on villain, I had only been at the table for 30 hands or so, but he seemed to call smaller bets fairly often and fold when the money got big. I'm mainly looking for turn and river feedback, pf I think is fine. On the river I expect that he will fold a J pretty frequently, but I'm not sure if I am off

When he calls the flop,
I think he has a draw or a better J. When he calls turn I think he has a better J. Also, keep in mind JT is a very popular hand. River is spew IMO. |

River is a pretty easy check in position. You are only getting paid off by a hand that beats you, and only a busted flush or 57s are folding.

C/c river - if you put him on a draw - which I think you do, you are gaining nothing from the river bet (only a better hand calls this). If you think he was drawing check that river and hope he is bluffing when/if he bets.

[/ QUOTE ] This is nowhere close to what I've seen on Party .5/1 6max. If he calls on flop, he has a draw or any pair. When he calls on turn he probably doesn't have Q4o or some totaly weak pair. |

[/ QUOTE ] In my experience some players surrender their draw on the turn to a second barrel. Some dont. But the fact that some do increases the likelihood that villain has a J. Edit: I agree that he could have any piece of the flop. But after the turn I am leaning towards better, made hands. Not always, but enough to make the river spew. Villain is never folding a better hand there. |

Flop and turn are good. Check behind on river.

Re: PP 100NL LAG hand with J8s
this is fairly read dependent....also, the way villain sees you (if he's paying attention) is also important. He could see you as over-aggro and be committed to calling down against you with TP. There are lots of villains that i'll call down against with TPGK. Your own read on this villain makes me think the river is spew mainly because you said he calls "lots of small bets" but folds when they get big. Well, they got big on the turn, and he called. I think he's probably got JT, AJ, KJ, etc. It also looks like he's committed to calling you down. The river bet might be big enough to get fold equity, but it also looks like a bet that wants a fold, not a call. Have you made any other big river bets that were called this session?
