Re: X-Men 3 Opening Weekend: Gambling on the Box Office
I went to see it and there were lines running outside the theater...
Yea, I'd say it will break 80 million no sweat. |

Re: X-Men 3 Opening Weekend: Gambling on the Box Office
So how high do you guys think X3 could end up? It's iffy, but I think it actually has a shot at being the biggest 3-day opening of all time, beating Spider-Man's $114.8 million!

[/ QUOTE ] I saw it tonight, it was alright, nothing terribly special though. (I really like X-Men too, WOLVERINE RULES!!!) |

Re: X-Men 3 Opening Weekend: Gambling on the Box Office
I'm an avid film watcher, and I like quality films. X-Men 3 is by far the best of the bunch, and IMHO it is an excellent action film. And I don't normally go for mainstream films either. The new director is way way better.

Re: X-Men 3 Opening Weekend: Gambling on the Box Office
Final numbers are out, with X-Men reaching 102.75 million over the 3-day weekend. WSEX wagers were just paid out. Congrats to all who won.
This was one of the easiest box office wagers I have ever seen. Future wagers will be more difficult. For example, next week's lone release will be The Break-Up, with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. The line should be in the high 20's, low 30's. And even then, it'll be difficult to predict; there's high variation in the comps, anywhere from Bewitched to Along Came Polly to 50 First Dates. Reasonable estimates are possible anywhere from $20 to $40 million, just depends on your opinion. Anyway, more on that film as the week progresses, will start a new thread on it when the line comes out. |
